Jay-Z vs. Kanye West...As Told By Damon Dash

Here goes...

Long before Kanye West's Graduation even hit stores, the streets were buzzing about his ode to Jay-Z on "Big Brother." However, Jay's former Roc-A-Fella partner believes the song was less about 'Ye making amends with Hov and more about taking a stab at him.

"It sounds like a sneak dis record to me. You gotta understand certain things about Kanye; he doesn't go at things like the average person does," Dash tells BET.com. "I feel like if he has something to say, he has to pose it in that way or he can't communicate it at all. And that was the only way he could express why he doesn't understand why he's treated that way."

In the song, West discusses the often complex relationship between he and Jay, including how intimidated he was upon first meeting him and how he felt when Jay collaborated with Coldplay when he'd also recorded with them. In the song Kanye makes it seem like things are okay between the two, but Dame says it was Kanye's only way of getting at Jay.

"It's not like he could be gangsta about it and say,'Yo, this n***a's playing me,'"Dash continues.

Though Jay has publicly praised Kanye's sentiments in the song, Dame admits that there's only one way he would've handled the situation.

"I didn't think it was a very complimentary record. N***as saying n***a on their d**ks and that was some real disrespectful stuff. I might have choked Kanye out for that."
