Remy Ma's Victim Speaks
Ny Daily News reports:
Makeda Barnes-Joseph knows the pain of diva rage.
Barnes-Joseph, 23, was allegedly shot twice last month by hot-tempered rapper Remy Ma.
She shook her head in disgust as she watched another rapper, Foxy Brown, carted off to prison after she was charged with hitting her neighbor with a BlackBerry.
"They feel that they can do whatever they want and get away with it," fumed Barnes-Joseph.
"They think that because they're rappers that they need to make a name for themselves."
Barnes-Joseph is still recovering from the two bullets that cops say Remy Ma, 26, pumped into her midsection on July 14.
When Brown, 27, got into trouble again last week, Barnes-Joseph was not surprised.
"It's ridiculous, the stupid things she's doing," Barnes-Joseph told the Daily News.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was already under the microscope when she got into a catfight with her neighbor: She was on three years' probation for attacking two manicurists last year in a dispute over the bill.
So the judge said enough is enough and jailed her.
"Because they're hard-core female rappers, they [think they] have to live up to what they say in their raps," an indignant Barnes-Joseph said.
Remy Ma - whose real name is Remy Smith - allegedly shot Barnes-Joseph after accusing her former friend of stealing $3,000 from her purse when the two left a nightclub in the Meatpacking District last month.
Barnes-Joseph, who will undergo more surgery in October, was released from the hospital early this month and sees a physical therapist every other day.
"I'm basically confined to the bed now. It's really hard. It hurts," she said.
Barnes-Joseph said the scars on her stomach are a permanent reminder of her former friend's betrayal. Also painful for Barnes-Joesph is Remy Ma's denial that she shot the former pal.
"I sit here and I try to think every day, 'Why is she doing that? How can she deny that?'"
