Criminals Gone Wild

I thought long and hard (and consulted a couple of people) about posting the video below. It shows criminals in action (all but one are black). Throughout the video, they are asked questions and, nine times out of ten, we get the most dangerously ignorant answers. I'm still not sure if this video is real or not (come to your own conclusion) but, however, it was able to get a reaction from me. I was left saddened by the ignorance and scared for our young ones. It's an hour long (you may or may not be able finish watching it)...anyways, try to enjoy the video.

Okay so I'm in class this one day and a friend of mine's listening to Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat" (I know, she shouldn't be doing that in class). I hear her rap the "Haters get mad 'cause I got me some..." line and I ask..."what the fuck is he saying at that part?". She replies: "Haters get mad 'cause I got me some Bathing Apes".

I'm like "Umm...did you just say bathing apes?". She said yes. I ask: "what the fuck are bathing apes?". She gives me a rundown about how it's a sneaker line called A Bathing Ape (it turns out that a lot of the clowns here on campus wear those things) and it's owned by an Asian man (?!!?!?!).

Forget that the 50-year old man inside of me didn't know what the hell dem shoes were...let's focus on the real issue. WHY ARE WE LETTING AN ASIAN MAN SELL US SHOES CALLED "A BATHING APE"???

I need answers and I need them now.

Surprise, Surpise...Mr. Bounty Hunter Doesn't Like Black People

National Enquirer reports:

Dog Chapman has been captured spewing foul-mouthed racist slurs on a tape obtained exclusively by The NATIONAL ENQUIRER.

And now a civil rights leader is calling for Dog's TV show to be removed from the airwaves.

In a shocking world exclusive The ENQUIRER has obtained tapes of two revolting phone conversations in which Duane "Dog" Chapman unleashes a filthy bigoted attack, littered with the N-word and other disgusting racial insults.

The star of the A&E reality show Dog, The Bounty Hunter directed his racist hatred at his son Tucker's girlfriend Monique Shinnery, who is black.

"Dog Chapman should not have a show. That show should be taken off the air!"

That's the opinion of prominent civil rights leader Roy Innis, who has served as the chairman of the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE) since 1968. Innis was shocked and outraged when The ENQUIRER played Dog Chapman's racist telephone conversations for him.

"This man should not be held up as a role model for children," Innis told The ENQUIRER. "He has venom deep in his soul. This is a picture of his heart — a revelation of his true nature.

Innis believes that cable network A&E needs to take swift action in response to Dog's vicious outburst.

"He needs to answer for his behavior," says Innis.

"When someone gets the opportunity to use the airwaves, he becomes a role model, whether he likes it or not. Dog Chapman should not be in that position, posing as a good guy."

"His comments show that he certainly is not a good guy."

A&E releases a statement...

"A&E has just learned of the story released by the National Enquirer concerning Duane Dog Chapman. We take this matter very seriously. Pending an investigation, we have suspended production on the series. When the inquiry is concluded we will take appropriate action."

Of course, whenever you make racist comments about black folks, it is important that you see our self-appointed ambassador...Al Sharpton. And Mr. Dog Chapman plans on doing just that. TMZ reports:

TMZ has learned that Dog the Bounty Hunter has already contacted Rev. Al Sharpton, hoping to explain the racist telephone call Dog made to his son.

We're told The Rev, who is currently preaching in Daytona Beach, Fla., and hasn't heard the tape, is considering having a dialog with Chapman, but will not make his decision until he has a chance to listen.

A statue commemorating slain rapper, actor and activist Tupac Shakur is among the latest targets of a hangman's noose, according to the foundation bearing Shakur's name.

Authorities in Georgia are investigating a pair of incidents that began early Saturday morning when one or more vandals tied a noose around the neck of a bronze likeness of Shakur that stands in the open "peace garden" of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, 15 miles from Atlanta, according to Versa Manos, a spokesman for the center's foundation. This incident involved further damage to the Shakur statue, including plastered writings with Sept. 11 and Hurricane Katrina references, as well "vague threats" against rappers and record company executives, according to a statement on the foundation's Web site.

WARRENDALE, Pa. -- A supervisor at the Verizon facility in Warrendale said she received an inter-office envelope at her desk on Wednesday and found a doll inside the envelope.

"I popped it open, I looked inside, I said 'Holy cow,' and I just dumped it on the desk," the woman told WTAE Channel 4 Action News.

On the doll's head, the N-word was written, and the woman's name was written on the body of the doll.

A note that was also enclosed in the envelope used profanity and the N-word again, the woman said. She said it also said, "Hang -- you don't deserve your promotion."

She said she recently accepted a lateral move in the company, with no additional subordinates and no additional pay.

"I deserve to breathe, walk, sleep and eat just like everybody else," the woman said.

Northern Regional police said they are trying to find out who sent the threatening package.

Along with police, company officials said they are going to conduct their own investigation. A company representative said they take the incident seriously.

The company said it is offering a $1,000 reward to any employee who can help identify the source.

"They took the time out to write such vicious stuff on a baby doll and have it delivered to my desk," the woman said. "I have a family just like you do, and I have the God-given right to make a living just like you do."

A black teenager whose prosecution in the beating of a white classmate prompted a massive civil rights protest here walked out of a courthouse Thursday after a judge ordered him freed.

Mychal Bell's release on $45,000 bail came hours after a prosecutor confirmed he would no longer seek an adult trial for the 17-year-old. Bell, one of the teenagers known as the Jena Six, still faces trial as a juvenile in the December beating in this small central Louisiana town.

"We still have mountains to climb, but at least this is closer to an even playing field," said the Rev. Al Sharpton, who helped organize last week's protest.

"He goes home because a lot of people left their home and stood up for him," Sharpton said as Bell stood smiling next to him.

"There's only one person who could have brought me through this and that's the good Lord," Bell told reporters later in front of his father's house.

District Attorney Reed Walters' decision to abandon adult charges means that Bell, who had faced a maximum of 15 years in prison on his aggravated second-degree battery conviction last month, instead could be held only until he turns 21 if he is found guilty in juvenile court.

The conviction in adult court was thrown out this month by the state 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal, which said Bell should not have been tried as an adult on that particular charge.

Walters had said he would appeal that decision. On Thursday, he said he still believes there was legal merit to trying Bell as an adult but decided it was in the best interest of the victim, Justin Barker, and his family to let the juvenile court handle the case.

"They are on board with what I decided," Walters said at a news conference.

Bell faces juvenile court charges of aggravated second-degree battery and conspiracy to commit that crime.

On another note, I wish we as a people would move away from the hip-hop discussion and focus more on education and why it is important for us to stop pigeonholing ourselves. I could go on but there is a lot of studying to be done. Enjoy the video.

Carmen Williams doesn’t understand why her 20-year-old daughter was tortured, raped and tied up in a shed.

Police tell her that what happened was probably a hate crime, that it happened because Megan Williams is black.

“Every time they stabbed her, they called her ‘nigger,’” her mother said.

But whatever the reason, Carmen Williams wants people to know what happened to her daughter. She agreed to talk to a reporter from her daughter’s room at Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.

She said a man and a woman — who Megan Williams thought were her friends — took her to the house of Frankie Lee Brewster in Pecks Mill, Logan County.

Megan Williams was held in the house for about a week, police said.

According to criminal complaints filed against six people in this case, she was beaten, stabbed, choked, sexually assaulted and threatened with death.

The details are even more horrible. According to the complaints, she was forced to eat dog and rat feces and to lick up blood. She was made to lick parts of Brewster’s body, under the threat of death. Her hair was pulled out. She was made to drink from the toilet. She was sexually assaulted while hot water was poured on her body, and while a man held a knife to her.

A woman allegedly cut Megan Williams’ ankle and said, “That’s what we do to niggers around here.”

Eddie Griffin Gets Regulated

...and appropriately so. TMZ reports:

Eddie Griffin thought he'd shock the swells at a big Black Enterprise event over the weekend by littering his act with N-words, but the comic was the one who got the real jolt when the mag's owner gonged his routine, and tossed him off the stage!

Rev. Al Sharpton tells TMZ that Griffin took the stage as the headliner and did his best Michael Richards impression, blistering the mostly African-American crowd with a barrage of N-bombs, and wailing, "Why are some black leaders telling us to stop using the N word?"

Griffin's mike was promptly cut, and Black Enterprise owner/publisher Earl Graves stomped on stage and proclaimed, "We ... will not allow our culture to go backwards ... We will pay Mr. Griffin all that we owe him but we will not allow him to finish the show if that's the way he's going to talk." Oh, snap!

The crowd gave Graves a standing ovation[...]

Well, according to an editor at Glamour Magazine, it is. Here's what she had to say during a presentation on the "Dos and Don'ts of Corporate Fashion" at a law firm:

"First slide up: an African American woman sporting an Afro. A real no-no, announced the 'Glamour' editor to the 40 or so lawyers in the room. As for dreadlocks: How truly dreadful! The style maven said it was 'shocking' that some people still think it 'appropriate' to wear those hairstyles at the office. 'No offense,' she sniffed, but those 'political' hairstyles really have to go."

Does This Offend You?

Well, oddly enough, it doesn't offend me. The cartoon, which appeared in a Florida newspaper, caused a lot of outrage. Something in me wants to get mad but sometimes I think it's important to have your problems presented to you in this way. The truth hurts.

What bothers me is that I know quite a number of people that will actually try to explain the logic behind the "Stop Snitchin'" campaign. And even one of our so-called enlightened rappers, Talib Kweli, doesn't seem to see why it's outrageous.

Anyways, as insensitive as that cartoon is, I find it hilarious. Sorry.

Okay so I rarely ever watch 106 & Park...as a matter of fact, I rarely ever watch BET. However, today was one of those rare days when I flip through BET to see what's happening. Within seconds, I am reminded why I don't watch BET.

The gentleman on the right in the pic above, Terrence (co-host of 106), made a comment that I thought was particularly dumb. A video by J. Holliday was just played...and Terrence says somehing like, "that's right, bringing lightskin back!" or something like that. I wasn't sure that I had heard what I just heard but then he confirmed it by going even further...he said some shit about how T.I. was part of the movement or something like that. The entire time, Rocsi was trying to cue him to shut the fuck up and, furthermore, the audience was dead silent when he was saying all this.

I could go further about why that was a stupid thing to say but I want to know if I am the only one who has a problem with comments like the one Terrence made. Feel free to let me know how you feel about it in the comment section.
