In the interview with the magazine, she talks about Mariah Carey and Usher taking up studio time with JD and how she doesn't think marriage is all that necessary. Below is an excerpt.
You’ve moved to Island Records and you’re working on your new album with your boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. Since you and Jermaine live together and work together, is it difficult?
No, from my perspective it’s not. But you’d have to ask him for his perspective, if I’m difficult [laughs] – I don’t think I am! I think there’s such a thing as being a team player with whatever it is you’re doing, and granted it’s your career, so you should have a final say, but still it’s about a team effort and you could never do it alone. But if there is something that we both feel differently about, it just should really be talked about and that’s the way we’ve always done it. Except this time around I see Usher and Mariah [Carey] coming out of the studio and I say, “Okay, wait, aren’t you supposed to be working on my stuff? We’re supposed to be doing our stuff together.” And he goes, “Well yeah,” and I’m like, “Why are they here, don’t I come before them when it’s time for the album to be released?” Not because I’m his girlfriend [laughs], but for the release of the album. Mine has to be released first, so doesn’t it make sense to get me out of the way first? But it’s all good.
At least this way you get to spend more time with one another.
But that’s something I don’t think we will ever get enough of because we’re always working. Like he was up here in New York for maybe a week and we really didn’t see each other. When you’re working in the studio you work really late at night, so by the time he’d get back from the studio I’d be getting up because I’d have something to go do, so we kept missing each other like that. It got really bad, so we’d send messages all day long saying how much we missed each other. It definitely helps to know that you’re missed. It does keep a little fire to it.
There are conflicting reports of Jermaine being your boyfriend, your fiancé or your husband.
We’re not married. I call him my boyfriend. Jermaine calls me his wife, I’ve heard him say that as well . . . But not yet. I don’t know if that will ever happen. Maybe, I really don’t know. It’s because, at least for myself, this space that we’re in I think is so nice. I feel like maybe marriage is a jinx for me. I’ve done it twice; I’m not trying to be Elizabeth Taylor and do it eight times. Where we are is good and we’re happy and there’s no drama. And plus, I think there’s something about having a spiritual connection where you don’t have to have a certificate to validate the love. So it’s all good – if you make those vows to one another and you know that you have a connection, that’s all you need. I really do think [marriage] is just a way for the government to keep tabs on everybody, I truly do. Now people think you’ve got to grow up and get married and have a family, you don’t have to do that if you don’t want that. Just because everyone else does that doesn’t mean you have to.

An ex-producer for "Judge Judy" is claiming that he was canned for complaining that black litigants were being 86'd from the show.
The lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court by former Senior Producer Jonathan Sebastien, alleges that Randy Douthit -- the show's Executive Producer -- told staffers, "We're not doing any more black shows," and "I don't want to hear black people arguing."
Sebastien claims when he complained about the alleged whitewashing, he says Douthit commanded his fellow producers to book "white upscale, pretty people" for Judge Judy, and to send black litigants to the "Judge Joe Brown" show. Brown's show is produced by the same company as "Judy."
Sebastien claims after he objected to the policy, his boss "berated and mocked him," and fired him on March 30. He is seeking unspecified damages from the show and CBS Paramount.
Judge Judy Sheindlin herself isn't named as a defendant. A rep for CBS Paramount tells TMZ, "CBS Paramount does not comment on pending litigation." A staffer from "Judge Judy" -- who did not want to be identified -- says the suit has "no merit" and that the claims are being being made by "a disgruntled former employee who was fired for cause."

Rapper SEAN COMBS is to cement his superstar status with an honour on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Come To Me hitmaker and Bad Boy Records mogul broke the news in a phone call to singer/actor Jamie Foxx on his satellite radio show, The Foxxhole, last week (21Dec07), when he revealed that he will receive his own star on Los Angeles' famed Hollywood Boulevard in a ceremony next month (11Jan08). He said: "I'm from Harlem, New York, so to get a star in Hollywood is just mind-blowing. "You can get a lot of things but when you see those stars on the ground... that's something I can't even say I dreamed of and to be getting recognised for it is definitely something I'm gonna have my whole family out there for."

It's Official: Brandy Will Not Be Charged

The L.A. City Attorney has decided not to file charges against Brandy over the fatal car accident she was in last year.
The accident occurred one year ago Sunday near the interchange of the 405 and 101 freeways in Los Angeles. Brandy's car struck the vehicle of Awatef Aboudihaj, who died. Authorities say another car then sideswiped Aboudihaj's car. A well-placed source in the California Highway Patrol, however, tells TMZ Aboudihaj actually struck the car in front of her and then slammed on her brakes before Brandy made contact.

Rapper SNOOP DOGG's nine-year-old lovechild wants his father to help him become a TV star - by including him on his reality TV show.
Julian Corrie Broadus reveals he hasn't seen his father for five years and now he wants to play a big part in Snoop's life, and appear on his TV show Snoop Dogg's Father Hood.
The youngster tells America's Star magazine, "I don't want to be an actor, I want to be a baseball player. But I want to be on the show to get to know my family." Snoop had a romance with Julian's mother Laurie Holmond just before he wed wife Shante in the late 1990s, but the rapper's on/off girlfriend claims they had a brief fling months after the nuptials - and her son was the product of that affair.
The rapper initially paid his son visits and paid child support but when he stopped seeing Julian in 2003, Holmond set about proving Snoop - real name Calvin Broadus - was the child's legal biological father.
A ruling was entered this summer (07), and now Holmond is hoping her ex will make their son a part of his new TV show.
She says, "I asked him to start seeing Julian again. He sounded sincere but has yet to come by... Calvin needs to acknowledge him."

*Usher tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a single in the works for his new album will feature superstar Michael Jackson and urban music's current "it" guy, T-Pain.
“It’s been created, but it’s not recorded," Usher explained to the newspaper. "And as long as Michael is open to it, hey, anything goes.”
The track would be featured on Usher's upcoming album, which he says will be out early next year.
“I’ve been diligently working on creating a masterpiece," he said of the project. "It’s going to be out first or maybe the second quarter. I see the second quarter of next year. And there will be a video and single out at the top of the year. … I think [Atlanta producer] Polow Da Don is going to have the first one. I think that’s going to be the single 'Love In The Club.'”
Meanwhile, the home front has changed drastically for the Broadway performer, who is spending his first holiday season as both a husband and father.
“I’m really like super dad. Really. I really cook for the family," he said. "Now I basically do chicken and broccoli and steamed vegetables, because I’m on this diet. But believe me, I can fry some chicken too … I really clean up. I walk the dog, myself. I burp the baby. I change the diapers. I trim the tree. I’m about to get the things for the tree after this because it’s bare. … I’m super dad. And it’s only begun.”
The artist says he and wife Tameka are still figuring out how to go about releasing the first baby picture of little Usher V. In the meantime, Usher IV says he'll continue to snap his own photos of the baby.
“I’ve become an instant photographer, developing them and everything,” he says.

It looks like Brandy might have had nothing to do with the infamous car accident that got people suing her for 50 mil. Read...
TMZ has learned the hang-up in deciding whether to file vehicular manslaughter charges against Brandy is that Brandy may have been a victim, not a culprit.
A CHP source tells TMZ the woman who died in the car accident involving Brandy actually struck the vehicle in front of her before Brandy made any contact. The law enforcement source says Awatef Aboudihaj, the woman who died, struck the car in front of her -- which was going 65 mph, and then slammed on her brakes. We're told the sudden stop caused Brandy to hit the dead woman's car.
What's more, L.A. County Coroner spokesperson Captain Ed Winter tells TMZ that toxicology reports show Aboudihaj had "slight traces" of marijuana in her system at the time of the crash.
The L.A. City Attorney has until the end of the business day on Friday to decide whether to file criminal charges against Brandy -- that's when the one-year statute of limitations runs out. Sources tell TMZ there is significant division in the City Attorney's office, and a decision still has not been made. The problem for the City Attorney: if they file manslaughter charges, they have to prove Brandy did something negligent -- and we're told that could be difficult if not impossible.

In the irony to end all ironies, a woman was sentenced to five days in jail for snapping a pic of R. Kelly in court (big no-no!). Meanwhile, he hasn't even gone to trial yet over child porn charges -- and it's been over five years. Objection!
Jean Johnson, 49, used her cellphone camera to snap pictures of R. Kelly during a recent hearing. She plead guilty to contempt of court and was sentenced to the five days, but was released for time served.
Johnson claims that she is Kelly's "biggest fan," however, there are no pictures or video to prove it.

It's Official: Jay-Z's Outta Def Jam

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Universal Music Group said on Monday that Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter is stepping down as president of its Def Jam Records unit, effective by the end of the year.
Carter, 38, has been president of the rap label since 2005, and has signed acts including R&B singers Rihanna and Ne-Yo.
Universal said Carter, also top-selling rap artist Jay-Z, will continue recording for its Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam label. But the company did not give a reason for his decision to quit the executive suite.
"Now it's time for me to take on new challenges," he said in a statement. "I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy," he added.
Carter will focus on his expanding franchise of 40/40 Nightclubs over the next year and other businesses, according to a source familiar with his plans.

"Jay made it clear to us that he feels the time has come to take on different challenges in his life. While we regret his decision to move on, we certainly respect it," said Antonio 'L.A.' Reid," chairman of Island Def Jam.

The 24-year-old artist, whose real name is Jasiel Robinson, may face federal charges per the Air Piracy Act. As of last night, he was being held at Cuyhoga County Jail.

Like Pitbull, Chicago native and Los Angeles based rapper Yung Berg was also arrested in Miami on Friday (December 21), but instead of alcohol, he was busted for marijuana.
The 21-year-old rapper (real name: Christian Ward) was reportedly arrested while on the set for singer Ray J. new video, "Sexy Can I," which features Berg.
There are no further details surrounding the arrest, but he is currently being held at the Dade County Correction Center, awaiting release.

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - A woman stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife following an argument that began when she accused him of opening a Christmas present early, authorities said Friday.
Misty Johnson, 34, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery. Her husband, Shawn Fay Johnson, 34, was treated at a hospital for a wound to the chest, police said.
Misty Johnson made an initial court appearance Thursday in which she requested a court-appointed attorney, authorities said. She was released after posting bail, which was set at $7,500.
There was no telephone listing for her in Rock Springs.
Authorities said Shawn Johnson called 911 just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to report that his wife had stabbed him. He told police that his wife started arguing with him over his opening a Christmas present, according to court records.
As the argument escalated, Misty Johnson accused her husband of having an affair, authorities said. Police found a marriage license in the couple's apartment stating they were married in late September.
Police Detective David Thompson said he didn't know what the present was, or if it was intended for the husband.

Kelly Rowland is reportedly dating kids' TV presenter Reggie Yates.
The Destiny's Child singer, 26, was spotted getting cosy with the Radio One DJ, 24, at the weekend at central London club Movida.
Kelly is even said to have shunned ex-Blue stars Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe in favour of Reg.
'Lee and Simon tried to get her attention but she only turned round long enough to say “Hi” and then went back to Reggie,' says a source.
The pair are also said to have been spotted having drinks at the nearby Westbury Hotel.
Kelly and Reggie met at last month's MTV Europe Music Awards where he presented her with Butler and Wilson earrings during an interview.

Latin rapper Pitbull (real name: Armando Perez) was collared in Miami, Fla. at 3:14 AM by Miami-Dade Police -- and it sounds like he had some pretty funky moves for the po-po during his arrest.
According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Perez was stopped after flying past a marked cop car in his silver Mercedes, doing 93 mph in a 55 zone. At first, the rapper wouldn't get out of the car, and when he did, the officer writes that he "could detect a strong breath odor of alcohol over the gum he was chewing," that Pitbull's speech was rapid and slurred and his eyes were bloodshot.
Results of the sobriety test weren't pretty either: he couldn't do the finger-to-nose touch, he was swaying, and basically mangled the "walk and turn" portion of the test, losing his balance, stepping off line and starting without being told to do so. And more than once, he told the arresting officer, "This is a big waist [sic] of time your time papo."
Pitbull was arrested and booked, with bail set at $1,000.

Studdard, who has fallen victim to lackluster sales, delivered three albums to J before he was bumped off the roster.
His first J Record release ‘Soulful,’ released in 2003, is RIAA certified platinum. His 2004 gospel follow up, ‘I Need An Angel’ also had a notable return buy going gold. However sales of his 2006 disc ‘The Return’ have been unable to match his previous success, selling only 71,000 copies in its first week to open at #8 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album has moved 235,000 units to date.

Queen Latifah and Jennifer Hudson have signed on to star in Fox Searchlight's "The Secret Life of Bees," the big-screen adaptation of the Sue Monk Kidd best-seller.
Searchlight also confirmed that it is in final negotiations with Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keys to also star in the film, a female-oriented coming-of-age tale. Tristan Wilds will play one of the film's male roles.
Gina Prince-Bythewood ("Love & Basketball") -- who is attached to direct the adaptation of another best-seller, "I Know This Much Is True," for Fox 2000 -- will direct "Bees" from her own script.
"Bees," a drama set in the Southern U.S. in the 1960s, centers on teenager Lily Owens (Fanning) and her friend Rosaleen (Hudson), who flee their hometown to escape their harsh upbringing and seek to uncover the mysteries of Lily's late mother. Along the way, they encounter three beekeeping sisters (Latifah, Sophie Okonedo, Keys) who take the pair in to their South Carolina home.
The movie's script was completed before the writers strike, allowing the project to go into production in January in North Carolina. Searchlight is planning on a 2008 release.

December 19, 2007 -- HIP-hop mogul Damon Dash may have the power to literally drive women crazy. In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Atlanta resident Jamie Roberts claims she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder after Dash exposed himself to her in 2004. The bizarre suit, which Roberts, 24, wrote up herself, says she met Dash at a Miami club that March, where he inexplicably used the name "Jeremy McIntyre" and took her to a nearby marina. There he showed her "his genital area" in an "offensive manner" and tried to force her into performing oral sex, the suit claims. Nine months later, Roberts said she "began to hear defendant's voice in her ear, giving her certain directions to follow." The suit says she discovered McIntyre's true identity in early 2005 "while watching a taping of the "Dave Chapelle Show." Roberts is seeking $30,000 and punitive damages, The Post's Dareh Gregorian reports. The charges were news to Dash. "We know nothing about it," he said in a statement. "It's quite obvious this is a false allegation."

Another Spears baby is reportedly on the way — and it's not Britney's. Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old "Zoey 101" star and sister of Britney, told OK! magazine that she's pregnant and that the father is her boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," (really??!?!? -- Richboi88) she said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."
Spears is 12 weeks along and initially kept the news to herself when she learned of the pregnancy from an at-home test and subsequent doctor visit, she told the celebrity magazine, which hits stands in New York on Wednesday and the rest of the country by Friday.
What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex? "I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she told the magazine. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."

The staged video and storyline, as well as the voice on the phone posing as Remy are all fictitious and have made it very obvious that this is a deliberate attempt to undermine Remy's name and character. Sky's crime correspondent Martin Brunt said the Back To Black star was arrested "by appointment" at a police station in east London.
"It is not an unexpected move," Brunt said.
"Her husband has been charged with grievous bodily harm against a pub landlord. He was then further charged with perverting the course of justice.

Tyra Kirkland, mother of Niatia Jessica Kirland (aka Lil' Mama), passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2007. She is said to have been diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and has been struggling with the disease ever since. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lil' Mama and the rest of her family.

The singer revealed last month that Rihanna's hit track was initially offered to her. She has now claimed that the song was too "mainstream" for her.
"I'm not going to chase what [mainstream] fans like," Blige told WENN. "It might work for a Mariah. It might work for a Beyonce. But Mary J. Blige is looked at as some sort of organic thing."

Criminals Gone Wild
I thought long and hard (and consulted a couple of people) about posting the video below. It shows criminals in action (all but one are black). Throughout the video, they are asked questions and, nine times out of ten, we get the most dangerously ignorant answers. I'm still not sure if this video is real or not (come to your own conclusion) but, however, it was able to get a reaction from me. I was left saddened by the ignorance and scared for our young ones. Word on the street is that Miss Jackson's (yes, I'm nasty) new record, "Feedback", is the biggest leak in music history. Apparently over 1.34 million blogs (including mine) all over the 'net posted something related to the track within 5 hours of its leak. In addition, radio stations all over the US have gotten thousands of requests to play the song.
This is where things get interesting...a whole bunch of websites posted the above information but, however, no one seems to have a source. A few say CNN was their source but I've been Googling hard and have discovered no such thing from CNN. I'm not saying this is impossible....I'm just saying this might be some spin doctor shit.
With that being said, I do think "Feedback" is that comeback track we've been wanting from Miss Jackson. Catcy as hell...kinda sounds like Britney...in other words, it sounds like vintage JJ (Brit's a biter). Anyways, I'm done. Yay.
